Contributions of Medical Professionals on Medical Science in Various Foundations

Without hundreds of years worth of medical research, the medical sciences wouldn’t be where they are today, and we wouldn’t have made even of the fractions we’ve made in various surgical and non-surgical treatments for thousands of conditions and disorders. Today’s high quality medical care is a direct result of intensive effort from medical professionals who have wanted answers and solutions for the cause of and treatment of diseases, disorders, and life-threatening problems. Thanks to all of this research and advancement, today we are able to successfully treat or altogether prevent many types of infections, diseases, and disorders.

What’s important to keep in mind is that medical research is never finished. Doctors, surgeons, and other medical professionals are always looking to improve upon the quality of care they provide to their patients, and the best way to accomplish this is by keeping track of the treatments provided to current patients, and to follow up with surveys and polls to find out ultimately what is working, and what isn’t working.

medical professionalIt’s the insight that is provided by tireless research and the sharing of research amongst medical professionals that has provided treatment for many diseases that are still all too common, including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. But just as there wasn’t an effective vaccination for measles and mumps, one day medical professionals will be able to look back and pinpoint a time when there wasn’t a vaccination or another preventative measure for cancer. Cancer is probably one of the most heavily researched medical concerns, and with good reason: currently there is no cure for cancer, and cancer claims the lives of millions of people every year. Millions more go undiagnosed and will die before they are able to seek treatment.

After cancer, the next most heavily researched aspect of medical care is neurological diseases and disorders. Neurology refers to the brain and the nerve pathways throughout the body. The brain is what powers our body and enables all of the body’s systems to function properly. If something in the brain malfunctions, then the entire body is at risk. Nerve pathways are closely related to the function of the brain, which is why it is so important for these too to be studied in order to find cures and preventative measures for problems involving them.

It often takes the founding of specific foundations to generate the awareness and funding that is necessary for optimal research and clinical trials and studies. An example of such a foundation is the LIFE Foundation. Founder Lois Pope founded this particular foundation in order to focus on neurological research. Other foundations exist for everything from specific cancers (such as breast and prostate) to diabetes to lymphoma. Then there are foundations and groups who focus on raising awareness and the resources necessary for the study of neurological disorders like autism, and mental health disorders like depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Medical professionals can do their part to help medical science by contributing their found information to various foundations. And patients can help simply by participating in surveys and trials, and by being willing to talk ope
